One of the customs most practiced by Ecuadorians is the burning of puppets, which is about gathering the whole family, neighbors, and friends around their puppets made of cloth, paper, cardboard, and they set them on fire, these symbolize all the bad things that happened that year, or the people who hurt you, for that reason they put masks on presidents, singers, political figures, etc. And by burning them they will leave all those bad energies in the past and start the new year in the best way.
Another of its traditions consists of eating 12 grapes, 6 red and 6 green, during the chimes that announce the new year.

Before going to a holiday, families gather in their homes to enjoy stews of beef or serf, meatloaf, or roast beef. Accompanied by haggis (a spicy sausage made with lung, liver and sheep's heart), and a good wine or whiskey. For dessert, a cake filled with nuts or biscuits with butter is served.
